Tickets for the annual Cathedral Group Choir Festival – which takes place at Leeds Cathedral on Saturday – are available for £10 in a 24-hour flash sale from 12noon today (Thursday 2 March).
More than 300 singers and musicians from 11 universities across the UK will perform in the annual Cathedrals Group Choir Festival at Leeds Cathedral on Saturday 4 March.
Normally £16 plus booking fee, the last 50 tickets are being sold for £10 to encourage people locally to come along.
Professor Margaret A House, Vice-Chancellor at Leeds Trinity University and Chairperson of the Cathedrals Group of universities, said:
“We want to open the concert to as many people as possible, so if you’re interested in choral music – which will be particularly special within the fantastic setting of Leeds Cathedral – please come along and enjoy the festival. I’m delighted to host the event in Leeds for the first time, on behalf of the Cathedrals Group.”
The concert includes two combined performances and individual songs from 14 universities, as well as the Leeds Trinity Cathedral Boys’ and Girls’ Choirs and 14-piece brass ensemble Skipton Building Society Camerata. It is supported by the Diocese of Leeds Music Department.
David Pipe, Conductor of the Cathedrals Group Choir Festival, said:
“We’re greatly looking forward to a fantastic evening’s music-making, with a wide range of choral music for everyone to enjoy. We’re delighted that the massed choirs will be accompanied by brass, percussion and organ in works by Sir James Macmillan and Bob Chilcott, and these will be sure to sound thrilling in the impressive setting of Leeds Cathedral.”
